Byredo presents it as a softer interpretation of the scent, shaped around a tribute to Africa’s cultural influence on music, dance, and art. There is also a more intimate layer to its story, tied to Ben Gorham’s father’s travel diaries and to Gorham’s own imagined, celebratory vision of Africa.
The opening sets the tone with brightness and movement. African marigold gives the composition a distinctive, lightly green and sunlit accent, while bergamot brings a clean citrus lift. Blackcurrant adds a discreet fruity edge that keeps the fragrance vivid without making it feel heavy. Together, these notes create an impression of light, rhythm, and polished ease.
At the heart, the floral structure becomes softer and more nuanced. Cyclamen introduces transparency, jasmine petals unfold with a refined floral clarity, and violet adds a powdery touch that gently rounds the composition.
