Launched by Byredo in 2009 and created by Jérôme Epinette, BLANCHE is conceived as a tribute to the beauty of contrasts, where purity meets intimacy. Its inspiration evokes clean linen, freshly laundered fabrics and the feel of a crisp white shirt against the skin, turning a familiar everyday image into an olfactory composition defined by restraint and precision.
The opening brings together aldehyde and centifolia rose. The aldehydes create that airy, polished, almost fabric-like effect that shapes the first impression, while centifolia rose introduces a soft floral nuance without becoming decorative or opulent. Rather than blooming in a traditional way, the fragrance suggests quiet brightness and tactile freshness, like immaculate material still carrying body warmth.
At the heart, peony and violet soften the structure with a tender, lightly powdery character. This shift gives the idea of whiteness more dimension, preventing it from feeling abstract or cold. The scent moves closer to the skin, becoming more intimate, like the clean trace of a garment that has already settled into the body. Epinette keeps the floral structure controlled and coherent, allowing the concept to remain at the center of the composition.
Musk and sandalwood in the base anchor the fragrance with understated sensuality. The musk extends the clean-skin impression, while sandalwood adds a creamy, quiet foundation that smooths the whole silhouette. The result is a unisex floral Eau de Parfum with a clear, composed profile and a very specific emotional register: comfort, neatness and closeness. BLANCHE does not aim to overwhelm; it stays with the discreet elegance of something that feels simple, yet has been built with great care.
