Ethereal Sunset

Launched in 2025 by The Today Project and created by Helene Vonesch, ETHEREAL SUNSET is inspired by a tropical sunset in Polynesia. The idea comes through as warm, exotic and enveloping, yet never overworked. Rather than leaning into excess, it captures a very specific atmosphere: the moment when the light softens, the air still holds the heat of the day, and everything feels calmer against the skin. There is a distinctly sunlit quality to the composition, balanced by a creamy texture and a floral heart that gives it shape and poise.

The opening feels bright and generous, with peach, coconut, orange, bergamot and mandarin setting the tone. The fruit reads as radiant rather than syrupy, as if fresh pulp had been lit from within by citrus facets. It creates an immediate sense of ease and pleasure, the kind of mood associated with late afternoon warmth, vivid color and lingering light. Coconut adds roundness, while bergamot and mandarin sharpen the composition with a crisp, lively glow.

At the center, the fragrance becomes more nuanced and floral. Ylang-ylang brings a solar, velvety richness that moves naturally into rose and jasmine, while geranium adds aromatic definition and nutmeg introduces a discreet spiced tension. That subtle contrast keeps the floral heart from becoming overly sweet. This is where ETHEREAL SUNSET develops its enveloping personality: not as a literal tropical fantasy, but as a more composed interpretation, where lushness is refined through structure and restraint.

The base rests on orange blossom, vanilla, cedar and white musk. This final stage feels softer and more intimate. Vanilla smooths the edges, cedar provides a quiet framework, and white musk leaves a clean, almost fabric-like impression on the skin, while orange blossom extends the floral glow with delicacy. The overall effect is calm, warm and gently radiant, with the comforting feeling of skin still holding the last light of day.
