Released in 2020, Halfeti Leather by Penhaligon's was composed by Christian Provenzano as a study in contrast, where woody and leather tones are given shape through fruit, spice and floral nuance. It has presence, but it is carefully built rather than overwhelming, moving from brightness into depth with a measured, polished rhythm.
The opening brings together plum, cardamom, lavender, bergamot, citrus and green notes. Plum gives the fragrance a dark, velvety sweetness, while cardamom and lavender create an aromatic, slightly cool structure around it. Bergamot, citrus and green notes add lift and definition, sharpening the outline of the scent and preventing its richer elements from feeling heavy too soon. The effect is vivid and composed, with freshness used as contrast rather than as the main theme.
At the heart, nutmeg, rose, cinnamon, cumin, violet and jasmine introduce warmth and texture. The spices deepen the composition and make it feel more tactile, while rose and violet soften the transition toward the leather accord with a gentle floral inflection. Jasmine rounds the heart with a smoother floral presence, and cumin adds a dry, skin-like tension that makes the perfume feel closer, more intimate and subtly charged.
The base of leather, oud, incense, cedar and patchouli gives Halfeti Leather its lasting character. The leather note feels broad and supple rather than raw, oud adds shadow and depth, and incense brings a contemplative darkness that reshapes the composition from ornate to grounded. Cedar and patchouli anchor everything with a woody, earthy backbone. What remains is a fragrance with warmth, poise and a distinct sense of controlled richness—confident, enveloping and quietly dramatic.
