Released by J-Scent in 2017, Hanamikaze is built around a very specific image: drinking Japanese sake beneath cherry trees in bloom while petals drift into the cup. This is more than a poetic backdrop; it is the actual framework of the fragrance. From the opening through the drydown, it keeps two ideas in elegant balance: the airy aromatic character of ginjo sake and the soft, fleeting delicacy of cherry blossom. The effect is polished, luminous and calm, with a distinctly Japanese sense of restraint and suggestion rather than excess. The opening introduces ginjo-ka with pear, apple, raspberry and a green note. It feels clear and gently juicy, but never heavy. The fruit notes bring brightness and lift, while the green facet sharpens the impression of branches, petals and moving air. The ginjo nuance gives the composition its signature tone: refined, lightly fruity and subtly evocative of sake’s aromatic profile, creating a clean yet unusual beginning.
