Manuel Mathieu

Brand description

Manuel Mathieu Parfums is the olfactory expression of Haitian-Canadian artist Manuel Mathieu’s creative universe. Blending art, memory and identity, the house transforms personal experiences and the cultural heritage of Haiti into distinctive fragrances, conceived as sensory works of art where scent, emotion and sculptural design come together.
Manuel Mathieu Parfums was born as a natural extension of the creative universe of Haitian-Canadian artist Manuel Mathieu. Known for a multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, ceramics, drawing and installation, Mathieu brings to perfumery his exploration of identity, memory, spirituality and the human experience. Each fragrance is conceived as a sensory work of art, a new way of expressing emotions and personal narratives through scent. For his first collection, Mathieu collaborated with IFF perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou, developing the compositions from memories, emotions and intimate experiences translated into olfactory materials. This artistic approach also extends to the bottle, originally sculpted in clay in Mathieu’s own studio and designed as an object with organic forms. Its mountain-like silhouette pays tribute to Haiti — his native country, whose name refers to the “land of high mountains” in the Taíno language — transforming each perfume into an object where art, memory and place come together.
